Context

‘Beautiful Love Strummerville Painting with Beautiful Butterflies’ is a heart shaped spin painting with butterflies that Hirst created for the 2008 Sotheby’s auction ‘Beautiful Inside My Head Forever’. All proceeds from the sale of the painting went to the charity Strummerville, set up by the friends and family of the singer Joe Strummer in the year after his death. The charity seeks to reflect Joe's unique contribution to the music world by offering support, resources and performance opportunities to artists who would not normally have access to them. Hirst, a close friend of Strummer, has been a key supporter to the charity’s work since its inception.
