A Good Environment for Coloured Monochrome Paintings

22 April 1994 – 29 May 1994
Solo Exhibition. Deutscher Akademischer Autausch Dienst Gallery, Berlin, Germany.

The exhibition was shown simultaneously with ‘Bad Environment for White Monochrome Paintings’, at The Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh (1993).

The installation, presented by daad galerie in the fourth month of Hirst’s residency, consisted of a humid white room filled with plants, flowers and live butterflies. Brightly coloured monochrome gloss paintings were installed on the gallery walls. Visitors viewed the installation by way of a glass and steel corridor, structurally reminiscent of Hirst’s vitrines.
